Although we’re not able to holiday abroad right now, we’re confident that you can enjoy an authentic taste of Italy without the travel…


Alio’s Delicatessen, Walton-on-Thames

Family run, friendly feasting since 1968…


Nestled on Terrace Road on the approach to Walton-on-Thames, you’ll find Alio’s Delicatessen, a family run business established in 1968. Joe and his family offer an amazing array of Italian produce together with friendly and helpful service.


Be prepared for a visual feast and the true aromas of Italy as you enter; this store boasts an incredible range of products, with a meat and cheese counter running pretty much the entire length of the shop. Provolone cheese was recommended and did not disappoint. Also on offer are delicious panini and arancini, and ‘proper’ coffee.


There’s excellent shopping to be done here (once you’ve chosen your lunch!).


The homemade fresh pesto is delicious, a million miles from its long-life counterparts. Perhaps unsurprisingly there are a myriad of pastas available, fresh and dried, and plenty of other great sauces to go with, many also homemade.


Bread, fruit, seasonal veg and an excellent selection of wines from across Italy are on offer too; there’s always something new to buy and try on each visit. And to finish, there are delicious gelatos and cannoli amongst other sweet treats. Many of the pastries are available on prepacked trays, making them a fine foodie gift.


Alio’s is a great place to stop for a friendly welcome, a seriously tasty bite to eat and an easily filled shopping basket!
